Johannes Spamer
Managing Director
Johannes heads up our commercial and litigation departments. He holds BA, LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, he was one of 20 students selected in 1999 for the new combined LLM/MComm degree created by the University of Pretoria. He also holds a certificate in strategic management from Georgetown University, Washington DC and currently enrolled for a LLM at the University of London. He is a former advocate of the High Court of South Africa and member of the Cape and National Bar Associations. His litigation experience includes time spent with the London Bar. Johannes left the Cape Bar in 1997 to lead the litigation team of a prominent Cape Town based law firm. In January 2000 he established the firm of J S Spamer and Associates, which merged into Spamer Triebel in 2006. Johannes specializes in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation in various jurisdictions in the world.
Suné Potgieter
Director
Suné’s journey with Spamer Triebel Inc. started early in 2018 where she currently focuses on commercial law, corporate governance and litigation, both locally and abroad. After completing her BComm Law and LLB degrees at the University of the North West, Potchefstroom, with her final semester of postgraduate studies at the University of Leuven in Belgium in 2014, she ventured into corporate and commercial law with great curiosity. Her practice focuses on various aspects of corporate governance, including anti-bribery and corruption, anti money laundering, privacy laws and data protection. She completed her postgraduate certificate in Strategic Management at Georgetown University, Washington DC in 2022 and is currently busy with a master’s degree in advanced Advanced Commercial Law through the University of London. She describes herself as a full-time learner and avid traveller.
Wessel Naudé
Senior Associate
Wessel matriculated from Reddam House in 2008 whereafter he attended the University of the Free State and obtained his LL. B degree in 2016 whilst working full-time. After completing his articles, he was subsequently admitted as an Attorney and Notary in 2019 and further as an attorney of the High Court with right of appearance in 2022. He has worked at several prominent law firms in Cape Town, where he gained a vast array of knowledge and made precedent judgments in the High Court that are still used today. He joined Spamer Triebel Inc. in October 2024 as a Senior Associate. He is well versed in various fields of law, and his practice focuses on General Litigation in all courts across South Africa, as well as Commercial and Corporate Law and Collections. Wessel’s methodology to the law is to identify the crux of a problem, and to find a solution from there.
Erasmus Geustyn
Associate
Erasmus Geustyn matriculated from Augsburg Agricultural Gymnasium in 2012, after which he worked in the United States of America. In 2018 he returned to South Africa and obtained his LLB.
Erasmus joined Spamer Triebel Inc. in 2022 and in 2024 took up the position as an Associate. He has gained significant insight into all areas of its practice, including commercial law, intellectual property law, and litigation.
Gabriella Afonso
Articled Clerk
Gabriella obtained her LLB in 2022 from the University of South Africa and commenced her articles in January 2023. Prior to joining Spamer Triebel Inc., she gained invaluable experience at a prominent law firm in the Northern Suburbs, where she developed a comprehensive understanding of various legal practices. In October 2024, she joined Spamer Triebel Inc. as a Candidate Attorney, where she continues to expand her expertise.
Gabriella is dedicated to broadening her horizons and acquiring diverse experiences in the legal field. She is particularly focused on continuous learning and growth in commercial law, collections, and litigation.
Dominique Botha
Articled Clerk
Dominique Botha is originally from Johannesburg and matriculated from St Teresa’s High School in Rosebank in 2016. After moving to Cape Town, Dominique obtained her LLB degree from The IIE’s Varsity College in 2022 and completed a 6-month Practical Legal Training Course through LSSA Lead in June 2023. After her studies, Dominique took a few months off at the end of 2023 to travel, something she enjoys doing in her spare time. She has a keen interest in commercial and corporate law and the ever-evolving field of intellectual property law. Dominique is excited about joining Spamer Triebel Inc. as a Candidate Attorney in 2024.
